Comment made on Being Rude

When being rude in the example youve given then i agree, if and when people do try and push in front of me though i do greet them with a rude, remark, comment or a simple what the fuck are you doing?? So is this rude, if i am responding to rudeness itself??

http://stefrichards89.blogspot.com/2010/04/being-rude.html

comment made on Nasty Comedians (comment on another post)

I can understand what you saying and i do partially agree, but in the world we live in today that seems to be the humor some of us have. (not saying me) I think if its not too personal and obviously doesnt cause offence then its good to laugh, i think on terms such as race etc then its a big no no, but lets face it some of these jokes are funny?

End Of Being Bad........For now!!

I have throughly enjoyed this module, ive laughed definatley cringed at some of the presentations (body modification the hardcore pictures) but i its been one of my most favourite modules of the whole year. Although im still unsure exactly what is bad behaviour, to me anything which can be described as being bad by one person is there opinion not nessecarily what it is, and many of the choices we make in relation to how we behave is our own personal choice, whether were conforming to what society says we should behave like, or just simply following what we have been taught by our parents, which ever reason we have, if something is not bad to you then why should it bother us if someone else thinks it is?? Personally as long as i follow the law and attempt to behave myself in matters which could hurt others, how ever else i behave is up to me, and whats wrong with being a little bad now and again......... its good for the soul!!
And apparently its not just me who thinks being bad is good for you, have a look at the link below let me know what you think?

Comment on lying , it's better than a slap in the face

Jodie, remind me never to ask you if my ass looks fat!! But seriously i agree totally with this, i have a problem with telling people the truth though, (does my bum look big in this....errrr yeah) maybe i should conform to the norm of society and tell a few lies.

Comment made on "John Daniels?!" "when you've known him as long as I have son..."

I have to agree with this one, and sorry but hahaha to the knocking yourself out thats when you know its time to go home lol. (sorry) I think that the outlook about it also have to do with who you socialize with is probably the best example, i know if im with the girls we tend to take it slow with a bottle of wine or two, if with a mixture of friends i'd go for the vodka every time, and its more than a bottle or two!! As most of us drinkers will say we drink for a purpose, may be a celebration of some kind, because were watching the footie or simply to unwind after a manic week, either way as long as its not everyday and a dependancy then i'll say "bottoms up"

Comment made on The Truth of a liar:Masturbation

I completley agree with this one, why should we be ashamed, ive said it before but in my household the whole masturbation and sex conversations were always discussed openly, but saying that i do think it has alot to do on the environment you grew up in, if your taught to think its an unapproacable subject then you carry this with you as you grow older.

Football Hooligans

What is a football holligan and is this behaviour bad?? It is difficult to say what makes a person become involved in football-related violence as there are so many possible factors. Just as it is impossible to claim that all football hooligans are of a certain age, gender, ethnicity or class. However one thing for certain is that it is evident that there is a feeling of community within the groups or firms and that they enjoy being involved in football associated violence. Some may say its good to be passionate about something, but why does that have to involve violence, and which ever way you look at it one team has to lose, so there is never going to be any avoidence for hooligans fighting on match days. Is it right to put a name on a bunch of people fighting........ after all most saturday nights after a night on the razzle are pretty much the same in some place.

The link below show a few facts from the Home Office regarding football hooligans

Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery, is it right or wrong or a personal choice, like most of the topics on the being bad module most of it comes down to personal choice. For some plastic surgery is a way of gaining confidence, lets face it we all feel good about ourselves when we look good, especially for women. For some it is to enhance career prospects (just look at Jordan) and ask ourselves this question would we even know who she was if her boobs weren't ever that big?? Although most of plastic surgery is seen as a high point lets not forget Leslie Ash and her "trout pout", although it was her own choice, to improve her features, i don't think it was fair the amount of abuse she suffered. I personally think if you can afford it and its going to make you happy then nip and tuck at what you like, but do be careful to read the small print!!

Euthanasia, A persons right?

We as humans make choices throughout our adult lives, whether they be good or bad choices, we still have the right to decide, so why cant we decide when we want to die? If a person is terminally ill for example, isnt it better for all if the dying process is quick and as painless as possible, not to mention a lesser strain on medical resources. Yet we are not allowed to make this decision! There are many arguements against Euthanasia, such as life and death are Gods business, sometimes people dont know what is best for them, the lists goes on. Personally if i felt it was time to die, and needed assistance to do it, i would have no issues with asking for help, again like most of 'bad behaviour' isnt it just a persons choice??

The link below gives a more detailed arguements for and against Euthanasia.

Graffiti

Graffiti....... vandalism or art? From a personal opinion i think in the right context, and obviously i don't mean tag names all over the place, it can be viewed as expressive art. When its on public transport seats and peoples walls then I'd be the first to admit that its unnecessary and messy. But the question still remains isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder? So if one person finds it attractive should it be classed as art?

Racism

Were all aware of the racist names people use and call each other by, but the reasons behind this will always remain a mystery to me. Us as humans are all made the same well apart from the obvious gender differences, our bloods the same colour and we breathe in the same air, so why is there so much hate because of the colour of one persons skin? Maybe it all comes down to ignorance, or stems from what we have been taught. To be a racist is a choice people make we are not born with the characteristic we simple learn it as we grow and develop. Our society especially in Britain is very much so multi cultured and we all live amongst a variety of cultures, so why cant we all just get along?

comment made on Graham Quirks stand up comedy post

Hey Graham, firstly thank you for the links on your post, both equally made me laugh, but i must say i am bias, as i am a fan of Michael McIntyre. I can appreciate your comment regarding the whole men being different to women routines which yes many do, but id rather hear those than a comedian separating people up into other categories such as race or their choice of religion, i think that's a little too personal sometimes, however in my opinion as long as a person doesn't take it literally too heart then its quite humorous......

http://theblackheartofgrahamquirk.blogspot.com/2010/04/stand-up-comedy.html?showComment=1272285565098_AIe9_BEKx6BfGcm6S0Emv6gq8YWO0XHWsj1psRIR4vrezhXVQg88cQZgORVwHf1kOhM3f0U5xL3H1sn54dsFa3MN_aGQcij9KgcarhloHYhWkH9izLkQaid7cmVrR_0TFr_xhXJSznjxvoxYL6dSJKPtzdVUMVmXDoEDXfKhAWr6KMp9QYrVbYXhCIWVFIwsauH0af0lcF61eXpyQMAv7jhgQi9qyRD8NKCWzljaLGdTZmpUuXjYgxo52sIXvA7j0eclFLQuV9aj#c65693021011739367

The use of "bad language"

I was having a little walk down memory lane with the mother recently, and we got talking about when i was 6 and had my mouth washed out with soap...(thanks dad), all because i called my Aunt a Bastard, what can i say i was 6 and obviously had picked it up from somewhere...again thanks dad. After this rather annoying conversation on how i was punished i raised the question...... Wasnt my dad a bit of a hypacrite, he taught me this word, ok not knowingly but it still came from him, yet he punished me because it was wrong??

So i raise the question why is it ok to use language as adults but we repremand the children for doing it?

Whilst googling for an image as we all do, i came across a article relating to swearing increasing tolerance, i actually found it interesting and strongly agreeable, have a look, see what you think...

Infidelity

This topic i find can lead to very different opinions. If your partner has all the right attributes but can not satisfy you sexually is it ok to find that part of the relationship from somewhere else, after all you can pay for sex alone with no chance of romantic involvement, or should this be sacrificed? Personally i think if you have to go elsewhere to get something you cant get from your partner then your with the wrong partner, if it is something you can honestly not live without, then dont abuse someones trust to get your own fulfillment.

Underage Sex

As we are all aware, especially as England’s under-16 conception rate was 7.8 per 1000 in 2008, underage sex is happening across the country. Although there are laws to protect people under 16 none of these seem to be followed. This could be due to society as a whole having a more relaxed view on sex, and sexual behaviour. Even schools are now are teaching sex education to children aged 5-11yrs. Is this influencing how children react to sexual behaviour, are schools putting ideas in to their heads?

The link below has some helpful tips and guidance to protect your child from underage sex.

Anti social behaviour

"Behaviour by a person which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household as the perpetrator." is the definition of anti social behaviour according to Brentwood Borough Council, they also believe any behaviour that is unwanted by others can come under this definition, but what constitutes as unwanted behaviour?? The local youth which live by me usually hang about on the greenery by my house, recently they have been issued with ASBO's just for standing there, as apparently it is unwanted behaviour by some of the surrounding residents, but is this action really neccesarily?? If it was a group of adults standing around there would it result in the same action?

Spitting

Whilst thinking of things i find as bad behaviour i thought about spitting, why do people spit, whats the purpose of it really? Not only is it a disgusting habit but its hardly hygienic either. Who seriously needs to spit every minute of every day seriously??, and why cant people be civilised and do it in a tissue or attend a bathroom, its just plain and simple bad manners. I work for the NHS and the final straw for me is when i saw someone do it on a ward, i mean come on, its a place for sick people but they don't need no more germs flying through the air. Sorry i had to have my rant on the subject......... therefore i find spitting extremely bad behaviour!

The link attached is a few more reasons as to why spitting is unacceptable behaviour

Joyriding

Joyriding, also known as taking a car without owners consent, or driving a stolen car. But what is the reasons behind it all, some will say its for the 'buzz' the whole adrenaline of it all, others will say just simple for something to do or to look good in front of their pals. Personally i think its a dangerous activity that 9 times out of 10 ends badly whether it be accidents, death or getting arrested.

Attached is an article published in Ireland about joyriding, it gives a better insight into some of the reasons and things which can be done to try and stop joyriders.

Bullying

Bullies come in all shapes and sizes, from all backgrounds and genders, most people encounter some form of bullying at some point in their lives, but the question is why? Why do us as individuals feel it necessary to bully other people, does it makes us feel better about ourselves to pick on someone Else's faults? There is an awful lot of bullying in schools, it can include things such as physically harming a person down to making prank phone calls. But what makes us a bully?

Below is a poem written by a victim of bullying, the writer has tried to identify how they felt, its actually quite sad.

Tattoos - defacing the body or Art

As a lover of tattoos myself, i generally do not see this as bad behaviour, there are many different reasons people permanently mark the skin, whether it be by personal choice, to show something important to them or a symbol of their religion. However there is argument that in some religion it is a sin to scar/deface the body. Getting your first tattoo, can sometimes be linked to a passage into puberty or becoming part of a group. In my personal opinion tattoos make a naked person much more interesting to look at, and of the 5 tattoos i have, each one is personal and holds significant meaning to me, so does that mean I'm being bad?
Whilst doing some extra reading after the lecture on tattoos, i came across this site which gives some insight as to when and why it is either acceptable or unacceptable to get yourself a tatt.

Homophobia

Definition of homophobia: Fear of or contempt for lesbians and gay men. Lets break this down a little......... Fear? Why would anyone being afraid of someone because of their sexual preference? Not all Gay men and women behave in a way that would make you assume they were gay, so why can many people get alnong with them until they establish this fact? Lets put it this way does being Gay make Elton John any less of a muscian, or Graham Norton any less funny (sorry i find him hilarious), i think not! Again it all comes down to your choice, you make the choice to behave in such a manner towards gay people, which i must say is very "Being Bad"

Have a look at this article from The Guardian.

Bad Movies - Kids

Whilst thinking about what to blog about next i remebered that i hadnt made a comment regarding the film we watched. A little summary: An amoral, HIV-positive skateboarder sets out to deflower as many virgins as possible while a local girl who contracted his disease tries to save his next target from her same fate. Which i will say is an accurate portrayal of the film, but what it doesnt tell you is its full of sex, drugs and things you dont want to imagine your own child doing!!
I was thinking about it and attempting to come up with my own view on the film but i could honestly see two sides to it. First being that although yes "de-flowering" as many women as he can is wrong anyway, these women still consented, and ok he may have been spreading his disease, BUT he was unaware he had it, therefore he thought he was using the best form of contraception against STD's as the girls he lured for were virgins.

I cant say i found any part of this film shocking as it displayed similar things to what happens in real life anyway, however i dont think many parents would agree!

Telling Lies

Is it wrong to lie, or does it depend on the circumstances? There are many different variations of telling lies, ranging from a small lie to protect someones feelings such as when asked "does my bum look big in this" we automatically say "no", even if it does, c but why are those little white lies we all tell acceptable? Whilst researching around this topic i cam across a newspaper article from January 2005, where a mother had lied to protect her son, which at first glance seemed to be a natural thing for a mother to do, except it was to protect her son from being found guilty to murder, which it has now been proven he did commit, but what is the right choice to make when deciding to lie. Do those small 'fibs' we all tell at some point, give us the motive to expand the lies we tell as adults and by doing so especially in the article linked below possible could have prevented justice being served, at what point do we have to draw a line?

Gambling, Is it really something bad?

I was at Bingo doing my routine mother and daughter bonding session, when i saw a leaflet on how to control a gambling addiction.......... i giggled to myself as walked out thinking about it as i saw numerous people on the fruit machines, feeding them, one after another in went those £1 coins. Surely this wasn't bad behaviour after all it was their own money they were spending...... until the flashing lights and those oh so familiar sounds caught my attention. Just a couple of quid i thought as i popped in my first pound, then another and another and another, i honestly didn't even realised how much id spent until i went for one more and id done £10 in about 5 minutes, still awaiting that glorious jackpot i changed another £10 and off i started again. Wasn't giggling now i was £20 quid down, i wouldn't mind but the jackpot was only £25, then it occurred to me, i was actually addicted to gambling, if only for that evening i was still hooked on feeding the machine. I finally pulled myself away from it and walked round the room, and saw pretty much the same scenario all around, although people had £50 and £100 in their credit counter, i was shocked, how could anyone be that daft as to want to waste £50 quid on a fruit machine........... it got me thinking on other forms of gambling and how easy it is to spend so much money on a whim! The horses (races) was one that sprung to mind, people get in thousands and thousands pounds were of debt sometimes, this is where id say someone had a gambling addiction, and maybe needed to seek help........... According to some its a form of an impulse control disorder, so I'll ask the question Simple slot machines or a big night at the races, is gambling bad behaviour??

Below is a link with useful tips and information on signs of a gambling addiction and some possible forms of treatment which i found quite interesting.

Alcohol, Party Time or Addiction?

Personally I'm a social drinker, well its more like routine to be honest, have a hard week at uni and work, so the weekend is my time, few glasses, OK bottles of wine, good food, good company what more can i ask for....... for some once a week to distress is not enough, its an addiction, a fix. Something to get them through the day..... Alcohol is seen as socially acceptable, but in reality isn't it just as harmful as many other forms of drugs that are out there? Apart from the obvious effects the next day, yes I'm talking the HANGOVER, alcohol, if consumed in large quantities can have a sever harmful effect physically but also psychologically. Yet so many of us drink on a regular basis. Personally i cant see this as bad behaviour, i think like most things its reliant on personal choice and control, if you are confident that you have to control to stop drinking once you know you've had enough then (although I'm not one of those, i tend to drink myself back sober) then consuming alcohol isn't being bad at all! Ive attached a link in which identifies just some of the harmful effects of alcohol consumption.

Abortions

I was thinking of bad behaviour, or should i say what can be viewed as bad behaviour and thought of abortions. There are so many protests and groups fighting for and against abortions that there are clearly mixed views on whether this behaviour is whats seen as "right" or "wrong". On a personal opinion im all for an abortion if its something both parents agree on. If a girl is faced with this decision alone i would think it would be best to confide and talk to someone to go through all the pros and cons before any rash decision is made. I think for the arguement against abortions being it is killing a life etc, then shouldnt exceptional circumstances be taken into consideration, for example if a girl has been sexually assualted or raped, and the child was conceived in a situation far from out of love, another factor to be considered is if the child would not have a healthy life, is it fair to put the child through pain for or is it wrong to terminate the pregnancy? Obviously i do think people should take responsibility for there actions and if pregnancy occurs through sheer lack of precaution then should an abortion be available............. Its something to think about i suppose, as in 2008 around 195,300 abortions were performed on residents of England and Wales and 91% of these were funded by the NHS, if the option wasnt made available readily would there be so many of the procedures carried out??

It's all about Drugs

Why do majority of people see smoking weed more acceptable to taking Heroin?? After all aren't they both an illegal substance and a personal choice? After being asked the question, should all drugs be legalised, it got me thinking about the effects if this was to become reality. Many people i know are on some sort of drug, and majority is illegal, but is this necessarily bad behaviour? I have a few friends who take speed for example, purely because it gives them more motivation to get up in the morning than they normally have, its a great way to lose weight, yet this is an illegal substance, why?? If the effects of a drug are beneficial to that individual why isn't it acceptable behaviour and freely sold legally, isn't it all about freedom of choice? Most people enjoy a few drinks of a weekend etc, yet the consumption of alcohol has many of the same effects as most drugs sold on the streets, it chills you out, it gives you a boost yet is legal, so why cant we all do a Frank Gallagher (shameless) and buy an E or two with a beer?
Whilst searching online for some interesting facts, i came across this site, check out the statistics and then ask yourself if so many people do it is it bad?

Prostitution - A business transaction

Whilst watching secret diary of a call girl on Thursday, i decided I'd have a little blogging on prostitution. With programmes such as this, and the fantastic film pretty woman, it gives the impression that being a prostitute is a glamorous way of earning a living, big shopping sprees, gorgeous clients and having fun, although the reality is some what different. Does anyone remember the TV show band of gold?? If you do you will remember that particular show showed a more dangerous and violent side of prostitution.
Whilst doing some fact finding on the subject i came across an article written in the Guardian in Feb 2008. I did not actually know that prostitution itself was legal, its everything else surrounding it that isn't. What i don't understand is why there are many opinions most of which negative about prostitutes, especially women, yet no one seems to have anything to say on the people who pay for sex. The way i look at it is a simple business transaction between two consenting adults, maybe the "customers" don't have time to form what many would call "normal" relationships, so the best way for them to have safe sex is to pay for it. Surely it's got to be a better option than various one night stands after a few too many?

Smoking.

Smoking in my eyes isn't really bad behaviour, although that is a biased point of view as i am a smoker myself. i can remember my first cigarette, i was 13 years old and in the girls toilets at school. I can remember my pal coming with me, back then it was cool to smoke! I sparked up and she had half with me. Ive now found out many many years after that she only started smoking because of me. Which raises the question do we smoke just to fit in with the crowd at school?? My answer to this would be yes. I'm now 26 still on the fags, i can honestly say that I'm fully addicted, i cant have a good nights sleep unless Ive had a fag before bed, nor do i wake up without my routine morning coffee and fag.
There is so much advertisement in the media to make us aware of the risks of smoking and it costs the Nhs millions each year to provide medical care from many smoking related illness, so why do us as a society still smoke??

Hey Jodie, in response to this blog, i am mortified that people actually enjoy watching this, let alone physically doing it. Comment on Jodie's mainstream masturbation

Hi Jodie,
In response to your post regarding masturbation, im only 26 but anything with a sexual nature in my house hold growing up was welcomly expressed, although my mother is a bit of a prude she always encouraged us to be open! so for me sexual partners, sexual experience and yes im going to say it masturbation is freely expressed and doesnt embarres me in the slightly!!

Shop Lifting

OK, so in relation to this weeks lecture....... as for shoplifting theft is theft whether it be someone you know or a shop, i know when i was 8 i robbed a pack of Polo's from my corner shop and my mother made me take them back and apologise... i suppose its all down to the society you live in and if a youth (as i was) it all depends on your parents/guardians! I know my mom would tan my arse if i did it again!!

Whilst having a google moment i came across this site which actually lets people post tips on shop lifting some of them are quite funny, and may actually work!! http://www.bombshock.com/old-forums-archive/oldforums-fakeid-fraud/shoplifting-for-dummies.html
