Tattoos - defacing the body or Art

As a lover of tattoos myself, i generally do not see this as bad behaviour, there are many different reasons people permanently mark the skin, whether it be by personal choice, to show something important to them or a symbol of their religion. However there is argument that in some religion it is a sin to scar/deface the body. Getting your first tattoo, can sometimes be linked to a passage into puberty or becoming part of a group. In my personal opinion tattoos make a naked person much more interesting to look at, and of the 5 tattoos i have, each one is personal and holds significant meaning to me, so does that mean I'm being bad?
Whilst doing some extra reading after the lecture on tattoos, i came across this site which gives some insight as to when and why it is either acceptable or unacceptable to get yourself a tatt.
